Install Instructions

  1. Remove the bed covering the engine.

  3. Remove the factory ignition system:
    • Remove spark plug boots.
    • Disconnect wires from the factory coil on the firewall.
    • Remove coils from the firewall.
  4. One at a time, remove and replace the valve cover bolts with the supplied bolts:
    • Reuse the factory rubber washer under the bolt head.
    • Torque to 7 ft-lb.
  5. Install the coil mount bracket using the supplied short M6 bolts.
  6. Apply the supplied dielectric grease to the white ceramic on the spark plugs.
  7. Insert the new coil boots into the spark plug bore and press down firmly until fully seated.
  8. First, secure the coil towards the rear of the car using one of the supplied long M6 bolts.
  9. Connect the electrical harness using the image below as a reference:
    • The coil towards the rear of the car will have a green, orange, and black wire.
    • The coil towards the front of the car will have one red and two black wires.

  10. Install the insulated P-clamp onto the wire harness and secure it and the ground wire to the front coil using the remaining long M6 bolt. Using the images below, angle the P-clamp so that it keeps the wires from making contact and rubbing on any of the surrounding parts.
  11. Route the electrical harness towards the factory coil location on the firewall.
  12. Use the image below to ensure correct wiring:
    • The orange and green wires connect to the top factory coil wiring (shorter factory wires):
      • Green to green (green/orange under the green sleeve).
      • Orange to black.
    • The red and black wires connect to the bottom factory coil wiring (longer factory wires):
      • Black to green (green/yellow under the green sleeve).
      • Red to black.
    • Stretch the white contact covers over the factory black rubber covers.
  13. Secure the harness using the images below as a guide. It is crucial to ONLY use cable ties where shown in the images. Make sure to leave slack in the harness, pointed at by the red arrow, to allow the engine to move without pulling on the harness.
  14. Follow the video below to update your dwell table using the values file found here.
DO NOT START YOUR VEHICLE BEFORE COMPLETING THIS STEP.
  15. Reinstall the airbox and bed.
